Strawberry Propagation

Have you ever wondered what to do with all your extra strawberry runners? Check out our video and steps below to learn how to propagate your strawberry runners straight into pots.

Supplies Needed

All you’ll need to propagate your established strawberry plants into babies are:
  • runners on your main plant with leaves started,
  • 4″ nursery pot,
  • good quality potting mix,
  • fabric stakes.

3 Easy Steps

Step 1

Find a runner with a good amount of leaves on it. Plant in a 4″ pot with a good quality potting mix*.
*Make sure your potting mix is wet before you plant.

Step 2

Use a fabric stake to hold the strawberry baby down on the soil and cover the bottom a bit so it can set roots.

Step 3

For best results, wait 3 to 4 weeks before cutting the runner off the main plant. This will give it the time needed to send down deep roots.
